Public participation and stakeholder engagement

HOW COULD YOU GET INVOLVED?

Local residents, business owners, people working in the area and others frequenting the place have their own unique experience of Florenc and its surroundings. They are aware of the values and problems of the place, which may be perceived differently by each demographic group.

You could influence the results of the competition in two phases. In spring, we collected people’s perceptions of the values and problems of today’s Florenc. These were provided to the competition teams. In autumn, a public consultation of the competition proposals took place before the final meeting of the competition jury.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION OF COMPETITION PROPOSALS (autumn 2021)

How could you get involved?

The second opportunity for the public to influence the competition outcome was in autumn. The competition teams submitted master plan proposals in mid-November. Subsequently, all proposals were presented at an exhibition and the public had the opportunity to comment on each proposal.

How were my inputs used?

All comments were summarized in a report, which was provided to the competition jury as one of the bases for proposals evaluation and for the selection of the competition winner.

Public debate in the Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning

As a part of the public engagement, an expert debate took place on 17th May 2021 at the Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning of IPR Praha. The aim of the discussion was to inform the public about the scope of the competition, to discuss the development of this strategic transport hub and the expected competition results. The speakers included the competition clients, Prague City representatives, the competition organizer and other experts. Questions were taken from on-line viewers in real time.

Prague tomorrow: Evening with the winner of the competition

On 1st December 2021, a public event took place at the Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning / IPR Praha. The aim of the event was to present not only the winning proposal of team 24 (UNIT architekti, A69 - architekti and Marko&Placemakers), but also teams which took the joint second place. The event was attended by all three finalists of the competition, a competition organizer and jury members (Petr Hlaváček and Pavel Hnilička). After the presentations of all three teams, a discussion took place with the winning team and the organizer of the competition, during which the public had the opportunity to raise their questions.
