Architectural Competitions

The architectural competitions aim to find architecturally high-quality, economically feasible, socially and environmentally sustainable architectural designs for each block of the development site Florenc21: Phase West. The key documents for the site coordinated development and the General Brief for all four competitions are “Site Regulation and Development Principles” and “Site Coordination”, both based on the masterplan by the winning team UNIT architekti, A69 – architekti, and Marko & Placemakers from the Urban Design Competition Florenc21, held in 2021.

These four parallel architectural competitions will be overseen by a single international jury to ensure a harmonious result, despite the intentional diversity of its parts.

GENERAL BRIEF

Four parallel architectural competitions seek for an optimal architectural design of each block on the site of Florenc21: Phase West. The key parameters for each block are specified in the General Brief.

Client’s specifications will be provided to the participants in Phase 1 of the competition.

KEY COMPETITION PARAMETERS

The competitions will be conducted in the form of competition workshops of the following parameters:

• pursuant to their objective they are architectural competitions, and pursuant to their purpose they are design competitions;
• they are international competitions;
• the Competition Workshops are non-anonymous, both the Jury and the Client will engage in an open dialogue with the competition participants during the workshops;
• each of the competitions will consist of three phases – in Phase 1, competition participants will submit a design idea developed and a portfolio of reference works, based on which the jury will select 6–8 teams for each competition to proceed to Phase 2. In Phase 2, competition participants will prepare a design concept, which 3–4 teams will develop into a more detailed design in Phase 3.

Rules of the Competitions apply to all four competitions for the design of the individual blocks on the development site of Florenc21: Phase West.

JURY

The selection of competition participants and the results of all four competitions will be determined by a single jury. The jury will coordinate the interim results of each competition phase to ensure that a harmonious whole is achieved in the Phase 1 of the Florenc21 development project.
