
Stefan Behnisch (b. 1957, Stuttgart) is the founding partner of Behnisch Architekten, the international practice established in 1989. Educated in philosophy and economics in Munich and architecture at the Technical University of Karlsruhe, he brings a uniquely thoughtful and multidisciplinary approach to design. A globally recognized advocate for sustainable architecture, Behnisch has lectured widely and continues to advance the integration of ecological and human-centered design principles in public buildings, campuses, and cultural projects. Notable works include the Genzyme Center in Cambridge (the first U.S. building to receive LEED Platinum), the WIPO building in Geneva, and the Ozeaneum Museum in Stralsund—each demonstrating his commitment to environmental responsiveness and architectural elegance.
